BEGINNER - COMPETITIVE
Tentative Instructors: TBD
Camp Description:
Our introduction to competitive speech (OI/Impromptu) and either LD or PF program is geared towards students who would like to try some of the competitive events that our students normally compete in during the course of the year. This 2 week half day program introduces students to speech via oratorical interpretation and impromptu speech as well as a choice between Lincoln Douglas Debate or Public Forum. This program is a crash course into the basics of these formats including introductions to the rules, learning about many of the skills required to do each of these events successfully and eventually putting it into practice in class and in our scrimmages on the last day of camp. Those who enjoy this class are encouraged to join our regular beginner speech and debate program during the year where they will continue working on these events with our coaches by memorizing their full OI speeches, continuing to develop their impromptu speaking skills, and write their own cases from scratch!
