Price: $1875 (includes one speech and one debate class per week)
Can't make a payment? Please email us immediately with a detailed description, screenshots, and anything else that will help us resolve the problem. If we need to custom invoice you, please let us know. All of the above MUST be followed in order for any discount extensions to be granted. Keep in mind any extension will be for up to 24 hours. Failure to make timely payment will result in extension expiring.
__________________________________________NOTES ON CURRICULUM__________________________________________
Both our beginner and advanced sessions are competitive/intensive speech and debate classes and we expect students to attend at least 2-3 competitions per semester as a way to practice what they are learning in class. If you were expecting an introduction to public speaking, this is not the class. Students should expect assignments that can range from memorization to researching and writing speeches over the course of a few weeks. If this is going to be an issue, it is advised that you do not join these classes. If you have any questions about the curriculum, please make sure you drop by the open houses or ask question via email.
Some classes will have specific age/grade limitations and requirements that must be met in order to join. Please read those carefully and make sure you are able to follow said requirements. Failure to do so can and will result in your child's removal from said class and placement elsewhere.
Some classes will also have no grade requirement. We will do our best to provide as many classes appropriate for students and their age but be aware some classes will have mixed grades and so unless that will be a problem, I encourage you to participate in our classes as there is no difference in curriculum for MS and HS students.
NOTE: If your child will be competing on behalf of their school, please make sure you include that information on the registration page. This way we are aware and can work with them to get ready for their schools competition schedule. While many of our tournaments are similar to the ones local schools go to, they may not be so please make sure you provide us and the coaches with their schedule to help them plan for competition. This is necessary to ensure that they are meeting their requirement via their school program (as opposed to our academy). Have questions or are unsure what your situation is (want to create a team at school, have a team but don't have the event you want to do, etc), please make sure to email Victor Rivas Uman at [email protected]. He can help with any questions to get you started competing in some form or another.
______________________________________________________________________CANCELLATIONS ______________________________________________________________________
In the case of low enrollment, we reserve the right to cancel the corresponding class and request students to switch sessions. We will inform parents at least a week before the class was supposed to start.
_______________________________________________________________________NEW STUDENTS_______________________________________________________________________
All students new to our academy will be required to take 1 speech and 1 debate class per week. If this becomes a major issue due to scheduling other activities we expect your child to take both classes over the course of the academic school year starting with debate in the first semester and speech the second semester. This is not negotiable. We hope that with enough notice, you can accommodate us into your week like your child's other activities (some which take multiple meets/classes per week). Our class has the same expectation. Have questions about why? Visit our FAQ section or email us.
If you are an advanced student but new to our academy, you also must take 1 speech and 1 debate class, at least for the first semester. We also reserve the right to bump you down to the beginner class if your performance does not match that of what our coaches want from those in the returning or advanced classes. If you are confident that you are fit for the advanced classes, feel free to pick the RETURNING STUDENT button below.
New students with experienced should also be prepared to provide sample work from previous speech and debate classes/competitions. This is to help us ensure you are in the appropriate class. Parents are highly encouraged to provide this work BEFORE making their class selection to avoid interruptions in your schedule.
________________________________________RETURNING GSA STUDENTS________________________________________
Please make sure to talk to your coaches on which class level you should enroll in this spring.
If you want to take a single class only, you must be a returning student from our spring or fall semesters and you must have completed our tournament requirement (1 speech and 1 debate tournament per semester). There will be no exceptions to this rule! We also reserve the right to go over coach's recommendations as to what class you should take with us for this next semester including repeating/switching classes/levels.
NOTE: If you are a returning student from our elementary school program, please sign up for the returning student elementary classes.
_________________________________________________________________FORM REQUIREMENTS_________________________________________________________________
We require all students' parent to sign our waiver form. The form is available on the registration page. Please read it carefully before signing.
Failure to do so will result in your application being rejected from our institution.
_________________________________________________________________________ATTENDANCE_________________________________________________________________________
We expect students to be punctual to class. Persistent tardiness will result in asking your child not to return to our classes. If you are running late, please notify us immediately by calling the class or emailing us in advance (if possible).
We will allow four excused absence for the semester program. Any unreported absences or fifth absences will result in us possibly dropping your child from the program without any refunds. Excused absences MUST be reported to us in advanced unless it is a medical emergency. Please do not sign up if you and your child cannot commit to our schedule.
