Elementary Weekend Sessions

GRADES 4-6
​Returning Elementary Students

Program Length
1.5 hours each Saturday or Sunday for 10 weeks

Rising 6th graders with experienced are encouraged to apply for our competitive speech and debate program with approval from your elementary coach and our CEO,  Victor Rivas Umana 

NEW Beginner

This is an introductory class to public speaking and debate. The goal of this class is for all students to gain a basic understanding of the activity in a fun and positive environment. Though the class teaches both speech and debate, this class places a greater emphasis on speech than debate. This class is designed assuming that the student has not taken any speech and debate classes before and will cover the basics of public speaking.

BEGINNER SCHEDULES OPTIONS:
​☻ Saturdays 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM ☻
​☻ Sundays 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM ☻

EVENTS:
☻ Speech: OI, Impromptu ☻
☻Debate: Novice SPAR ☻

ELIGIBILITY:
☻Little to no experience welcome! ☻

I WOULD LIKE TO REGISTER FOR THE new BEGINNER WEEKEND SUMMER CLASSES

returning Beginner

Students who took our first semester of elementary school classes will continue working on impromptu speaking but will get to go more in depth into Spar debate while being introduced to the activity of congressional debate that they will spend more time working on in the fall semester. Students will learn about how legislation is written, how to research information related to the legislation and how to write arguments using research incorporate into the argument structure they learned and will review in spar debate this session.

☻Debate: SPAR, Congress ☻

ELIGIBILITY:
☻Student is a Returning Beginner students from Spring 2023 ☻

returning Intermediate

Students who took our intermediate course of the last semester will get a chance to continue working on debate by working on more challenging topics of spar including introducing research into the event. We will also continue working on impromptu speaking and introduce students to oratorical interpretation which mixes the skills they learned from writing platform with the skills they will work on in advanced speech in the fall where they will be asked to pick a speech someone else wrote and interpret it into their own unique performance with the help of our coaches.

ELIGIBILITY:
☻Student is Returning Intermediate students from Spring 2023 ☻
