    MURRAY MIDDLE SCHOOL SPEECH TOURNAMENT ​

    7 November 2021 - speech recordings are due
    9-11 November 2021 - asynchronous speech prelim judging
    12-13 November 2021 - asynchronous speech finals judging​


    ​DEADLINE
    6 Nov 2021 (to register and to drop)

    Speech recordings are due on 7 Nov 2021. F
    or limited prep and impromptu, prompts will be available around 7 Nov 2021 noon. Please send the video links to Nadia by 8 am the next day, 8 Nov 2021. NO EXCEPTIONS! I can't enter you if you are late.

    Information

    Welcome to the Murray High Etherton Invitational ONLINE Speech Tournament! With COVID-19 spread still of great concern, our tournament will be totally ASYNCHRONOUS. So, we look forward to having you VIRTUALLY join us! Schools will be allowed to enter students into as many events as they wish to enter.

    ​Platform
    We will be using Tabroom.com for competition. Preliminary AND final rounds will be prerecorded. All judges will need to have registered on Tabroom.com and have technology available to effectively compete judge rounds. 
     
    Events
    The tournaments will host the following Forensics events will following the Kentucky High School Speech League (KHSSL) rules for competition:
     
    Speech Events
    Preliminary rounds will be judged asynchronously using pre recorded performances November 9-11 and finals will be judged asynchronously November 12-13 morning. Student recordings should include the entire view of the student with good sound and lighting in the performance. The recording device should be stationary for the entire performance. Please send the link to Nadia by the deadline listed.

    Limited Prep
    Students and coaches should respect the integrity and prep time rules for this event. Performances should be recorded once and utilize only the amount of prep time reserved per event rules. Impromptu and Improv prep must be recorded. Broadcasting will be competing using a prepared script for round 2. Student recordings should include the entire view of the student with good sound and lighting in the performance. The recording device should be stationary for the entire performance.

    STUDENT DROP FEES
    Drops- Entry fee plus $20 per entry after the November 8th 7pm CENTRAL deadline. Substitutions not allowed.
     
    JUDGES ENTRY
    All judges should be familiar with KHSSL rules and ballots
    ALL JUDGES MUST HAVE A TABROOM.COM ACCOUNT IN ORDER TO BE PLACED ON YOUR JUDGING ROSTER. All judges will be considered for all events and should be prepared for competition accordingly. 
    • Speech prelim rounds will be held asynchronously and judges may complete them anytime between November 9-11. Prelim judging will close at 6pm CENTRAL on November 11th.
    • Finals for speech events will be announced on Friday evening via Tabroom and ballots will be released for judges by 7pm CENTRAL FRIDAY NIGHT. Those FINAL ROUND ballots are due to be finished by 10AM CENTRAL SATURDAY MORNING.

    JUDGES DROP FEES
    Any judging drops or no shows will be charged $50 for each round missed.

    AWARDS
    Awards will be mailed out for the top six entries in each category AND for the top three schools in the tournament. The awards ceremony will be held in the evening at 7pm CENTRAL to accommodate students and parents so they may have time to eat dinner and share in the awards experience together. Get everyone around the computer to watch awards! Make some popcorn! Celebrate as a speech community and with your family in the safety of your home! ​

    One Speech Event $60
    Two Speech Events $70
    Three Speech Events $80


    If you are opting out of judging, you will pay an additional $100
    ​

    Each person in a PF team would be responsible of providing their own judge, so one PF team would need to either provide two judges, both pay the judge fee, or one of each option.

    Registration will not be complete until payment is received.
     
    NOTE: We will charge set up fees if we have to create tabroom.com accounts for judges. It is recommended you do so on your own.

    Finals ballots due by 8am PST
    Awards ONLINE at 5pm PST

    Drop Fee

    Any drops after the deadline will not get a refund and will be assessed any nuisance fee the tournament charges. Drop requests should be made to Victor and Nadia.

    Please do not drop out last minute to avoid being charged these fees.

    EVENT SELECTION
    ASYNCHRONOUS SPEECH EVENTS

    Participants will submit one video link per entry that will be used for the entire tournament. Please ensure that YouTube links are marked unlisted, and if using Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. permissions are set so that anyone with the link can view. Refer to the KHSSL virtual best practices guide for tips on recording and submitting videos.

    ​JUDGE PROVISION
    Signing up a judge without having a Tabroom account will result in us charging you for the set up fee. You can do this easily on your own by going to tabroom.com. It takes two minutes.

    All speech judges must be available on the asynchronous judging schedule.  
    All debate judges must be available for the live schedule.
    Any judging drops will be charged $50 each. Any missed round will be fined $30 per round.
