Dear Forensics Community,

We are excited to welcome you to our 2023-2024 Regular Season online tournaments. These monthly synchronous and asynchronous tournaments are a great way to prepare your competitors for Nationals & afford extra rounds to competitors on your team. A condensed three preliminary and one final round schedule ensures competitors get the practice they need without the hassle of waiting around all day for rounds. Save money with $0 travel costs. Run by experienced tournament directors, these tournaments are sure to be some of the best online tournaments your competitors attend all year.

The tournaments will offer competition at all levels, from kindergarten to college, in a wide range of events. We have the very best qualified tournament staff assembled to ensure a smooth day of fun competition. Winners will receive Bronze/Silver/Gold medals.

Competitors may enter as many events as they would like!
In the event of small entry sizes, we may need to collapse events within their event category (so interp events collapse to an “interp” event).
Judges need to make sure they will be available for the judging window of the tournament.
Unlisted YouTube videos are recommended. The video uploaded for the NOF Asynchronous tournament should be unique to this tournament (do not use videos you have used at other tournaments). Previously recorded versions of the speeches are not allowed and may result in disqualification.

Fines (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!):

Changes after entry deadline - $25 per change (subject to tournament director approval)
Judge drops within 48 hours of the tournament will be charged a $150 judge no-show fee.
Judges who submit incomplete eBallots (with little to no substantive feedback) may be charged a judge no-show fee for failing to complete their judge assignment which includes both ranking the speakers along with giving sufficient comments.

Judges: First Missed Ballot - $25 / Subsequent Missed Ballots - $50
Delay of tournament fees may be assessed from $20-$100 based on the severity of the delay.

Drop Fee

Any drops after the deadline will not get a refund and will be assessed any nuisance fee the tournament charges. Drop requests should be made to Victor and Nadia.

Please do not drop out last minute to avoid being charged these fees.

EVENT SELECTION

For tournament purposes, any 6-8th grader is considered middle school, regardless of how their school categorizes them. So, if a school considers a 6th grader an elementary student, our tournament would consider them in middle school.
Unlisted YouTube videos are most preferred.

ASYNCHRONOUS SPEECH EVENTS

Participants will submit one video link per entry that will be used for the entire tournament. Please ensure that YouTube links are marked unlisted, and if using Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. permissions are set so that anyone with the link can view. Refer to the best practices guide for tips on recording and submitting videos.

All speech judges must be available on the asynchronous judging schedule.

TOURNAMENT UPDATE REGARDING JUDGE BALLOTS:

We will need to begin implementing a fine for blank/nearly blank ballots.
Oral Critiques: No ballot may be returned without a written reason for decision. Oral commentary is not considered a substitute for the written ballot.
Judges who are unfamiliar with events may be removed from the tournament at the discretion of the tournament staff, and fines may be applied.
A good concept in writing a ballot is the compliment sandwich (write a compliment, add some constructive feedback, and end with another compliment). It is frustrating for students to receive a speech ballot that says, “Great job!” with a 5th place ranking and with no actual useful feedback.

Judges who do not write sufficient feedback to the competitors will be fined $20 per round. Unsatisfactory ballots will be determined by the tabulation staff.
