Mondays and Wednesdays 7:00 PM-9:00 PM
Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:00 PM-9:00 PM
Students will be required to take nine weeks of classes (one class of speech and one class of debate per week). There will be no exceptions to this policy.

*only eligible for programs run by GSA (located in Warm Springs, Cupertino, Aborn, Newark, or Online) and not the ones coordinated by Basis Independent Fremont or Ohlone College

BEGINNER - FUNDAMENTALS

Camp Description:
This program is for those who are not quite ready to jump into the rigors of competitive speech and debate but would like to learn some of the basic skills while trying out their skills in scrimmages and activities in class. This 2 hour class will have students focusing on the fundamentals skills found in competitive speech and debate via formats of speech and debate that require little time to prepare at home. This class is focused on having students actively participating in games, activities and practice scrimmages with their peers in class where they will work on items like strong body language, facial expressions. Diction and voice inflection. Pace of delivery and pauses. Students will also learn the basics of structuring both speeches and debate. Students will learn about the importance of organization, research and asking questions in debate and how to properly respond to someone in a organized and concise manner. Students who enjoy this class are encouraged to join our intro to competitive speech and debate program during the school year if they enjoyed this class.
