Have a productive holiday by joining our debate writing workshops! Dates: Mon to Thu, 26-29 December 2022 LD Topic Writing Workshop Start the 2022 season with an edge on the competition! This workshop will focus on improving topic specific strategy and argument construction for the Jan/Feb topic. Debaters can expect in-depth lessons focused on improving their research and speech writing skills. Debaters will also be given ample opportunities to practice their arguments during practice debates evaluated by The Golden State Academy staff. The topic writing workshop will focus on the upcoming January/February topic 'Resolved: Justice requires open borders for human migration.' LD debate workshop syllabus: ☻Day 1 - Affirmative Focus Topic Introduction Lecture Wikipedia Debates Research Skills Lecture Affirmative Research Homework Assigned 'Harms & Significance' ☻Day 2 - Affirmative Focus Review Homework Assignment Cross Examination Activity (Completed Homework Required) Card Cutting Lecture & Lab Affirmative Research Homework Assigned: 'Impact & Solvency' ☻Day 3 - Negative Focus Review Homework Assignment Negative Research In Class Activity Negative Research Homework Assigned: 'Case Neg/Off Case Pt. 1' ☻Day 4 - Negative Focus Review Homework Assignment Aff vs. Neg Drill Off Case Argument Lab By the end of the lesson, debaters will have a completed argument strategy for the affirmative and negative. Students will also receive access to all research and evidence used during practices. PF Topic Writing Workshop Start the 2022 season with an edge on the competition! Pre-Requisites for both LD and PF workshops: Students must have learned the basics of debate, so at the least they should have previously been enrolled in new beginner debate.
