    Information

We are delighted to invite you to the 2022 Club Championships held online from April 29 through May 1, 2022 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). The tournament is hosted by BL Debate, Golden State, Speech and Debate India, and Potomac Debate Academy.

We are offering Public Forum, Lincoln Douglas, and Speech.

For Public Forum, there are two divisions: High School Open (for grades 9 and up) and Middle School Open (for grades 6-8).
Students will be debating the April 2022 NSDA topic.

The appropriation of outer space by private entities is unjust.

For Lincoln Douglas, there are two divisions: High School Open (for grades 9 and up) and Middle School Open (for grades 6-8).
Students will be debating the January/February 2022 NSDA topic.

For Speech, there are two divisions: Middle School Open (for grades 6-8) and Elementary School Open (for grades 2-5). Speech prelims will be conducted asynchronously; elimination rounds will be conducted live. To compete students will be asked to submit a recording of an original persuasive or informative speech. Speeches should be between three and five minutes.

Students may debate up a division.

Students will join their rounds using NSDA Classrooms.

    JUDGING
All judges must be available for all preliminary rounds, the first elimination round, and for one round beyond elimination of the last contestant from the school that the judge represents (GSA).
All judges will be required to use electronic ballots in all divisions.

    Entry Price

LD and parent is judging $125
PF and parent is judging $90
PF and parent is judging $80

If you (parent) are opting out of judging, you will pay an additional $110 for debate and $80 for speech.

Each person in a PF/Policy/Duo team would be responsible of providing their own judge, so one PF/Policy/Duo team would need to either provide two judges, both pay the judge fee, or one of each option.

Registration will not be complete until payment is received.
NOTE: We will charge set up fees if we have to create tabroom.com accounts for judges. It is recommended you do so on your own.

Got any questions? Please email nbudiman@tgsastaff.com, info@tgsastaff.com, vrivasumana@tgsastaff.com
You can double enter at your own risk (meaning if you compete in both speech and debate and you make it to speech elimination, you will have to forfeit either event because the schedule conflicts with each other). Email Nadia and Victor if you would still like to double enter.

    JUDGE PROVISION

Click here to complete the highly recommended Cultural Competency judge training course

Signing up a judge without having a Tabroom account will result in us charging you for the set up fee.
You can do this easily on your own by going to tabroom.com. It literally takes less than a minute.

First time judging? Click here to learn how to do it! Or watch our Youtube playlist here.
There are also these training cards available that include a summary of each event's rules and comments.

Tournaments encourage judges to have a paradigm on their Tabroom account, which can be a few sentences on your preferences of debating styles, etc. See here for example. It doesn't need to be this long, but make sure to add something before you sign up. For example: "I am a parent, please speak clearly and slowly and avoid technical jargon".
