University of the Pacific October 26th-28th
The University of the Pacific cordially invites The Golden State Academy to attend the 36th annual Jon Schamber High School Forensics Tournament on Friday, October 26th-28th
****This will be an overnight trip with the option of opting out of travel****
We will be booking hotels for students to stay with our coaching staff for the duration of the trip. While we will be able to ensure your child can get to and from the tournament once it has started, it will be parent's responsibility to drop them off at the tournament on Friday in the morning. Please make sure you plan ahead for this. Given the age of our staff, we cannot rent vehicles without the cost being passed on to you so to avoid expensive transportation costs, we will be asking parents to drop off their child on Friday.
For LD students, we may be booking additional rooms for students to be dropped of Thursday night so that they can get to their round on time Friday morning. This way parents don't have to drive in the hectic commute traffic in the morning.
Please note if you choose to travel instead of the commuter option you are not allowed to change your option to non commuter without forfeiting your deposit. Meaning that we keep the deposit regardless of your option you end up choosing in the end. This is to ensure that we have the ability to pay for anything we have booked based off of your original entry as a traveling student.
If you choose not to join us as part of the traveling group, you will be responsible for dropping off your child on campus by the times shown below, commute into Stockton in the morning can be longer than 90 minutes so please plan accordingly for Friday. For Saturday and Sunday, the commute should be around 85 minutes from the South Bay and about 75-80 minutes from the East Bay. We would encourage you all to strongly consider the travel option so that you only have to be there to drop them off on Thursday night for LD students, Friday afternoon for PF and pick your child up on Sunday afternoon.
Missing Friday school
Note that debate students will have to be excused from school on Friday Oct 26th. You will be responsible for excusing them from school as we are not affiliated with any school program. Schools should not give you a hard time for this request.
Keep in mind that this schedule is tentative and we will send out an official schedule for all including when we expect students to be dropped off on each day and when they should be picked up as well. Please make sure you save a copy of this and review it before signing up!!!

If you are a novice or beginner, we would suggest entering in debate and your main speech event and possibly trying out impromptu if you are doing that as a secondary event.
