INTRO TO PUBLIC SPEAKING
Grades 3-5
This class will focus on spontaneous forms of speaking like impromptu speaking and spar debate to allow students to work on structure and general presentation and delivery skills. This is a great class for students who are still working on their writing skills as this focuses more on general speaking and not prepared speech or debate formats. |
PREPARED SPEECH & DEBATE
Grades 4-5
In this class students will now take the structure they have learned in impromptu and spar debate and apply in a prepared format. Students will either write an informative or persuasive speech and for debate, will be introduced to congressional debate where they will research and write arguments in favor of legislation that they can understand and relate to. |
INTRO TO INTERPRETATION SPEECH & TEAM DEBATE
Grades 4-5
Students in this class will learn about storytelling - an interpretation event that will challenge students to work on tone, facial expression and general storytelling along with public forum, a team based debate event that will have students researching and debating topics from our current events. |
